Introduction

 Marriotts Story of Innovation

It all started when the founder J. Willard Marriott and his wife open their first business with a root beer and hot dog stand in 1927. Shortly after they opened franchises of restaurants where they added hot food items and the restaurant was called Hot Shoppes.

Marriott opened their first motor hotel in Arlington Virginia in 1957. Marriott’s first hotel was managed by J. William Marriott’s son Bill Marriott. Bill Later became the CEO of Marriott which transformed the hospitality industry. The current CEO of Marriott is Anthony Capuano. In 1969 Marriot opened its first international hotel in Acapulco, Mexico. Marriott is one of the first lodging companies to enter the cruise business. Marriott debuted in 1983 for business travelers with their first Courtyard hotel. Marriott is the first lodging company to offer a portfolio of brands which include Moxy Hotels, Fairfield Inn, Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, Renaissance Hotels, SpringHill Suites, Bulgari Hotels & Resorts, and Ac hotels by Marriott.

Marriot understood the importance of an MIS manager in 1998 when Wilson kept most of Marsha's system while adding functionality and reducing the cost of the operation. He knew that even though there were no issues with Marsha he still wanted to update because he has a belief "Reuse if possible, but if  available and build for competitive advantage."

The purpose of this report is to look into Mariott's information systems and see if we can help offer any suggestions on how they could improve to increase their revenue or customer support.
